Every year, my kids have been going to my mom’s house for Cousin Camp. My oldest two and my brother’s kids are the same ages, so it’s been a fun tradition. This year was my little guy’s first year at cousin camp, and as you can see…he was ecstatic to join the older kids. I created my Glamping files and knew I had to make some Cousin Camp Cricut Iron On T-shirts.
We’re lucky my sister-in-law is a photographer and took these AMAZING pictures with all the kids in their matching tees (I also made tees for my mom and dad – it was adorbs). If you like these, you would also like the Faux Wood Burned Signs I made a couple weeks ago. I used designs from my Glamping SVG Files set.
I used to never make iron-on projects because it was such a pain with my iron. Now that I have (not one, not two, but) THREE EasyPresses, I can’t stop. That machine is aptly named.
It’s a breeze to make these tees, PLUS I love how easy it is to store. And don’t think you only have to use it on fabric (although you should…like these Glitter Pillows, for instance). I also have a fun Wood sign I created with glitter iron-on! It’s just another way you could make my S’mores wood signs, too.
To make these Cousin Camp Cricut Iron On T-shirts, you’ll need:
- Glamping and S’mores SVG Files
- Cutting machine like the Cricut Maker or Cricut Explore Air 2 (read more about the Maker here)
- Cricut Iron-On Vinyl (I used 3 rolls of Cricut Vinyl for 5 kid’s shirts)
- Cricut EasyPress (or iron…but HIIIIIGHLY recommend the EasyPress)
- T-shirts
- LightGrip Mat
- Weeding Tool
Cricut Design Space Tutorial
- Upload the SVG File to Cricut Design Space.
- Use the contour tool to take away the “Smore What?” writing on the s’mores file. Tip: Learn how to use the Contour Tool in Cricut Design Space.
- Type in Cousin Camp and the year in your favorite font (I used the All Caps font from my Crush Script Font Bundle and a nice sans serif font).
- Place the design in the middle of cousin camp, attach or weld the design together, then size them to fit on the tees.
- Click MAKE IT, then make sure you mirror the image for Iron-On otherwise your writing will be backward. No bueno.
- Place the Cricut iron-on on your mat SHINY SIDE DOWN.
- Select iron-on in your materials, load your mat, then cut it out with the Cricut.
Iron-On Tee Tutorial
PLEASE NOTE: The following instructions are for Iron-on Lite on Cotton fabric. Check the Cricut Guide for other materials.
- Weed the design and heat up your EasyPress to 315 for cotton.
- Place the Cricut EasyPress on the front of the t-shirt for a few seconds, then center your design on the tee.
- Firmly hold the EasyPress on the design for 30 seconds. If it doesn’t cover the whole design, move to the other parts of the design and hold again for another 30 seconds.
- Turn the tee over and heat up the back of the design for about 10 seconds, then remove the vinyl while it’s still hot.
That’s it! Make sure you turn the tee inside out when you wash it and don’t iron directly on the iron-on. If you’re like me and never iron anything…you’ll be golden.
My kids just had the best time at Cousin Camp this year. I feel like my kids are missing out on the childhood I had because it’s SO hot in Arizona in the summer. Plus, my family lives on a dirt road with hardly any houses by them. I don’t think you’ve had a childhood until you roam around, get some scrapes and bruises, and “drive” granddad’s truck on the dirt road.
Don’t worry. They didn’t actually drive granddad’s truck. Thus, the quotation marks.
