I really don’t like cleaning (you would think so since I keep buying kitchen stuff). I think few people do. The problem with that is that I LOVE having a clean house. I can’t concentrate if my house isn’t clean. I’m a better mother, wife, and worker when I have a clean home. I used to clean my house every Saturday, but now that I’m nine months pregnant, and my feet swell up like balloons if I stand too long…I’ve resorted to a cleaning schedule. This Printable Cleaning Schedule is great for maintaining a clean home!
We moved into our home almost two years ago, and while it’s not perfect…I love it. It’s a perfect size, has a lot of storage, and it’s just pretty! Since moving here, you could say I’m a little anal…(wonder where I got that from, MOM!)
I have some house rules, along with my cleaning schedule that help me out:
- NO eating on the carpet – the bedrooms have carpet, and I do not under any circumstances allow food in there
- NO shoes in the house – I have tile through most of the house, but I still don’t let anyone wear shoes unless it’s the day before I mop
- COASTERS – I think this is self-explanatory
- No playing with decor – I have a three-year-old…this constantly has to be enforced
- Wash hands after eating
I sound like a drill sergeant, right? Rest assured, I have very happy children that are messy and play outside a lot. Some day they’ll be considerate when visiting other homes 🙂 Also, my husband and I abide by the rules, so we set an example (my husband is almost as picky as I am…almost).
I created my printable for my home, but I think it will work for most people…if not, I created blank designs so you can write up your own schedule! I’m the most forgetful person in the world, so it helps to make a list and check things off. Plus, I feel accomplished.

Just remember, this is a guideline…once you start a schedule, you won’t have to do the daily tasks every day and give yourself a break once in a while…no one is perfect!
I also make sure I work with cleaning products that I love, like my Norwex Enviro Cloths (seriously, if you haven’t tried these, you’re missing out) and my awesome vacuum.
I think any mother of small children can agree that our floors are constantly dirty…CONSTANTLY! I’ve had to relax a little bit in that department because I would go insane otherwise. I vacuum the kitchen almost daily (it should be daily, but who has time for that??) I love the new Eureka SuctionSeal 2.0 vacuum. You can find it at Walmart on rollback for only $129! I love the way it cleans my carpet and rugs. The suction seal is great for tile floors since it doesn’t scatter debris around.
What do you do to keep your home clean?
