Download these 4 FREE Unity Over Comfort Calligraphy Worksheets, plus I’m giving 3 tips on how to encourage racial UNITY in your community!

You guys know me…I love a good freebie – especially a hand lettering freebie. I’ve lettered these Unity Over Comfort Worksheets in four different styles for you to practice at home.
But this one is even more exciting to me because I’m partnering with my friend Monique on this very special quote.
Unity Over Comfort
I met Monique a few years ago at a conference. We didn’t get to talk too much there, but we’ve kept in touch online – she’s just one of those people that makes you feel like you matter.
When I was grieving over my grandmother’s death, she didn’t know about it, but I got a message from her at just the right time.
Monique is a an anti-racism educator and host of the Shine Brighter Together Podcast. Of course, when we’re talking about anti-racism, things can definitely get uncomfortable – but that’s not the point.
Sometimes we need to go out of our comfort zone to bring change and create unity in our communities.
Sometimes we need to look at ourselves with a critical eye to bring peace and comfort with those that are different from us.
How to Bring Racial Unity in Small Ways
So, while you practice your calligraphy worksheets, I’d love for you to think of changes that you can make to bring about racial unity.
Make sure you check out my Calligraphy Supply List
Don’t worry, I’m giving you some ideas thanks to Monique who is so incredibly helpful and insightful when teaching about anti-racism.

And friends…there is A LOT of work to do…but I believe even small gestures can help out big time in the long run.
Listen
I have a strength in one of my personality tests called “RELATOR” and I have this tendency to relate my stories when someone else tells their own. It has a place, but I’ve realized that this can sometimes be unhelpful.
As a white woman, I can’t relate to living with racism on a daily basis. Sure, I’ve come from a diverse place and I’ve experienced prejudices as a woman – but I’m trying to learn to JUST BE QUIET and listen to the experiences of others.
Sometimes, you learn some hard truths and it may not be easy…but you’ll be surprised how your relationships with those of color will grow by doing this ONE thing.
Support Businesses Owned by People of Color
You can simply search on Instagram and find amazingly talented crafters, jewelry makers, authors, and artists.
And AHEM – support businesses that bring about change like taking a class or course from Monique 🙂
Many of these are small businesses, which obviously I’m a big proponent of that, too. You’ll be supporting families and communities…
And when you find a product you love from one of these small businesses SHARE THE HECK OUT OF IT.

Educate Yourself
Read about those who grew up in different circumstances than you.
Take online courses about diversity.
Sign up for classes and charities in your community.
EDUCATE YOUR CHILDREN and don’t skirt around issues of race. Friends, children are the key to change and they can understand more than we give them credit for.
Completely necessary side note…how cute are those two sparkly outfits????
So, this was a little heavier than my normal blog post, but it’s important.
Let’s start creating a world where everyone feels SAFE, HEARD, and APPRECIATED. Please head over to Monique’s website to sign up for her courses and workshops!!
And of course, let’s make it a little more beautiful with some calligraphy.
