My friend Dawn Nicole made these gorgeous hand-lettered photos for our Christmas Hand Lettering blog hop, and I have been chomping at the bit to create my own. My sister-in-law from Hilary Stailey Photography took the kids’ pictures when they were all in town. Not only were the pictures AMAZINGLY cute, but they were taken against a concrete wall, which made these pictures perfect for these Hand Lettered Photos. I searched for ways to get them printed for Mother’s Day and Mixbook was kind enough to send them to me on these Metal Prints. I’m completely in love with the way they turned out!

What you need to make Hand Lettered Photos:
- iPad Pro 12.9 (I like the larger size for hand lettering)
- Apple Pencil
- Procreate App (find it in the Apple Store. You can ONLY use this on an iPad Pro)
- Procreate Brushes from Creative Market Pack of 8 (I used several of these)
- Print on Metal Prints from Mixbook
You can see the finished product above. I love that these Metal Prints have a stand on the back of them, and they’re really sleek for modern decor. If I wasn’t giving them to my mom, they’d be going in my office! If you want something more traditional, check out the other photo options Mixbook has for home decor.
Just remember to have fun with this. Think of all the funny things your kids say, make note of things they like, or even have them fill out a questionnaire. Be creative in the placement of your words, and don’t be afraid to mess up! The great thing about the iPad is you can press the undo button.
One more tip, make sure you leave room on the margins so the words along the edges won’t be cut off.
