It’s really easy to Edit SVG Files for Printables in Cricut Design Space. You can do this with SVG Files in Cricut Access, or files that you upload to your design space dashboard.
My favorite feature of the Cricut Machine is the ability to print and cut. Shocker, I know. Many files are made for print and cut, but there are some that need a little customizing to get the perfect cut. For example, my succulent files from the Palm Springs SVG Bundle is absolutely adorable, but they were made for vinyl projects or cut out projects. Never fear, because I’m going to teach you how to edit SVG Files for printables. It will make cutting these succulents out for cupcake toppers a breeze!
Remember, these files are on sale for only a couple more weeks then the price goes up! It has over 50 elements and some bonus goodies, too!
WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO Edit SVG Files for Printables in Cricut Design Space:
- Succulent Graphics
- Cricut Design Space
- Cricut Maker or Cricut Explore Air (read more about the Maker here)
- White Cardstock
Note: I used my Cricut maker and knife blade to make the round chipboard cut outs behind my printables. Learn more about the Cricut Knife blade to make those.
- Upload the graphics the Succulent Graphics. If you don’t know how to do that, I recommend you check out THIS TUTORIAL.
- Select the SVG File, then right click and select UNGROUP.
- Now, press CTRL or COMMAND on your keyboard, and click the small green dots or the leafy parts on the succulent with your mouse (colors will be lighter than the outside leaves), then WELD them together. Tip: Learn more about the WELD tool.
- Select all the geometric shapes on the pot of the graphic using the same method as step 3, then WELD those together, as well.
- Select the welded geometric shapes and the pot image, then move them up so it’s touching the cactus or succulent.
- Right click your mouse, then select MOVE TO BACK.
- Now select the flower, if there is one, and move it so it is touching the cactus, then move it to the back.
- Select the whole image, then click the FLATTEN icon in the lower right-hand corner. Flatten will turn the file into a printable.
- If you want to attach more than one succulent together for print and cut (like the envelope in this invitation tutorial), just make sure the succulents are all touching each other, then flatten again.
I also made these little tags for the drinks with these – it’s SO easy to dress up these cute bottles.
