This Spooky Soda Shop Halloween Party is bright and colorful and it is made SO much easier with the Cricut Maker!
As you may know, Halloween is my favorite holiday, so I try to throw a Halloween Party every year. Last year was a Haunted Mansion Tea Party and I pretty much did a 180 with this Spooky Soda Shop Halloween Party…but don’t make me choose a favorite. I CAN’T.
Spooky Soda Shop Halloween party Tutorials
I’ve included links to all the Halloween Party Cricut Projects (ready to go in Cricut Design Space), Monster Photo Props and obviously you need to see all the Halloween Party Treat ideas!
I try to make all my parties budget-friendly and easy to recreate, but feel free to pick and choose the tutorials you think will work best for your party!
DIY {faux} Tile Floor
You read that right. This is not an actual tile floor…and even in person it was quite deceiving! I had just turned one of our rooms into a studio and took up the carpet…so the concrete floor was covered in marker, glue, and paint from the construction workers.
The party shoot was scheduled during that time, so I had to improvise. I saw some poster boards at hobby lobby and knew it would look perfect in a fifties style soda shop!
Truecontrol knife saves the day!
I know this could be it’s own post, but it was ridiculously easy. I took some poster board and cut it down to size with the Cricut TRUECONTROL knife. and Cricut Cutting Ruler. Having the Self-Healing Mat would have made it even easier…I’ll have to get it for next time.
I cut them in half length-wise, then trimmed off the excess to make it a square. I was expecting it to take a long time, but was done in about an hour.
By the way, the TRUECONTROL knife is NOT like other crafting knives. It cut through thick poster board like butter…definitely my new favorite thing!
The Cricut pretty much stole the show for this party. However, I did have some help from Meri Meri for the Bat Balloons and Target had these cute Bar Stools.
Most the other items I had on hand, or I DIY-ed. That kept this party ultra Budget-friendly!
Fifties spooky Soda Shop monster costumes
I don’t know if I could technically call these costumes. More like having them wear black and white and doing their hair and makeup – the makeup was pretty minimal with my kids, too…they get their ghostly skin color from me!
Regardless, though…they looked adorable and they were the perfect models for my party!
Bride of Frankenstein Costume
Riley was the bride of Frankenstein and I used those 80’s curlers and hair spray paint, and styled it so it was a cross between I Love Lucy and the Bride of Frankenstein…she looked SO cute, and it was super easy!
She even stuck that model Avant Garde pose (scroll up to see) without my asking. Can you tell she’s been doing this a while?
Werewolf Costume
The boys were simpler – if you call dressing up a 3-year-old simple. He was SUPPOSED to be a werewolf, but wouldn’t hold up the werewolf prop until they took baths after the party…then he insisted I take a picture of him wearing his underwear and holding said prop.
For the actual party, I put him in jeans and a white t-shirt…and make sure you roll up those sleeves! I also had his hair looking like wolverine at one point and kid managed to mess that up too.
Three-year-olds are cute, but they RUIN EVERYTHING. Like, it was a close call with that bat balloon – he really did almost ruin everything by flinging that thing around my party display.
Vampire Costume
Max let me do his makeup and hair, and he looked adorable and posed like a champ. I did his hair 50’s style (which we totally need to bring back – Max was meant to have that hairstyle), gave him a vampire photo prop and called it good!
Have you ever wondered why blog parties look so perfect? It’s because we take 5000 pictures and choose the 10 that don’t look like this…although, I have to say I prefer the outtakes. Freaking hilarious!
What will you be doing for Halloween this year?
[…] You know…some times you need to make everything pink. I have been wanting to do a pink and black Halloween party for forever, but parties can be time consuming (I mean…did you SEE last year’s Halloween Party?). […]
