I’m on baby number 3 right now…so I’ve had my share of messes. Nothing quite prepares you for it. I know someone warned me, but when I had my daughter…I was blindsided. I read all the parenting books, I bought all the items that people say you need, I had my hospital bags packed and her room was decorated. If anyone should have been prepared, it was me. NOTHING prepares you for the horrors of being a new parent. No one prepares you for the joys either. That’s a nice bonus. I can, however, help new moms with this Snug and Dry Baby Room Checklist!
You saw all the cute things that I did to prepare for Baby Beau, but this list has all the essentials…everything that is REALLY important to have for baby!

I might be biased, but I think I make the cutest babies. This guy is 4 months old and he’s just the sweetest. He constantly gets mistaken for a girl because of that thick hair and long lashes. Babies have to be adorable…they really do. I change his poopy pants and I’m happy about it. Because I’m either in love or crazy. Or both. Notice the first five items on the list? Those are the most important items in a nursery because poop happens. A lot.
When I was a new mom, I was under the impression that I needed to become a hermit and stay at home. That lasted one day. I have to get out of the house at least once…and since everyone in the house hadn’t slept in 3 days, we didn’t want to cook dinner. We went out, had a nice time, my baby was wonderful and slept the whole time. I looked down at my sweet angel and she was COVERED in yellow goo. It was in her hands, all over her legs and arms, on her face and in her thick black hair. I thought someone sprayed mustard all over her…no joke. It took me a couple of seconds to realize that it was poo. I experienced my baby’s first blow out.
My thoughts exactly, Beau. It was horrifying and hilarious. It wasn’t the first blowout I cleaned up and won’t be the last. I wouldn’t want to say that I’m an expert at cleaning up poo…but seriously, I’m an expert at cleaning up poo. It’s just one of the many skills I’ve acquired as a mother. I learned really fast what brand of diapers to trust. I have stacks of Huggies diapers in my closet because I know it’s something I’ll never have too much of. I buy larger packs for home and I keep smaller packs in the car. If I’m out and don’t have any spare diapers, I run to CVS. It’s fast and easy to cart three kids in there when I’m in a rut!
