Learn how to make How to Make Felt Roses with the Cricut Maker to create a beautiful fall wreath or any other type of decor you would like!
The number one reason I love my Maker even more than my Cricut Explore Air 2 is the ability to cut felt with ease! In this tutorial, I’ll show you how to make Felt Roses with the Cricut Maker, so you can make a pretty Fall Wreath. And if you’re reading this during Christmas, you can also make this Felt Christmas wreath 😉
You can purchase these 3-D roses in my shop for $4.97. This SVG set includes 4 rose designs, an accent flower and 9 leaves–that’s A LOT of creating you can do!
You can watch this FB Live video (it was live…don’t judge!!) to get a better idea how to make these:
What you’ll need to Make Felt Roses with the Cricut Maker
- 3D Flower SVG Files
- Cricut Maker (will come with a fabric rotary blade- read more about the Maker here)
- Fabric Grip Mat (for larger projects, get the 12X24″ mat)
- Felt Sheets (no larger than 12X24)- try BBD Supplies or Felt on the Fly on Etsy
- Hot Glue Gun
- Cricut Maker Essentials Collection is a good place to start with Cricut sewing projects
- First, upload the Flower Graphics to Cricut Design Space. Tip: See this tutorial if you don’t already know how to do that.
- Once you place it in your project, select the image, right click your mouse and select UNGROUP. Now, you can resize each individual flower. Tip: For Felt, I recommend not making the flowers smaller than 6 inches.
- You can copy and paste the flowers as much as you like, change the colors in the Color Sync Panel (just drag and drop the images to the felt color you’d like them to be cut on), and once you’re finished, select MAKE IT in the upper right-hand corner.
- Click continue, then once it registers your Cricut Maker, select FELT under the materials options.
- Make sure your rotary blade is in the machine, place the first Felt color onto the Fabric Grip Mat, and load it in the Cricut Maker. Press the cut button when you’re told to do so.
- Once they’re cut, start rolling the flowers from the outside in. Make sure it’s not too tight – try to mimic the look of my flowers.
- When you get to the circle in the middle, place Hot Glue on it, and press rolled up felt down on the circle. Hold in place for a little bit and make sure the glue is holding before you let it go.
- Let the glue dry, then you can decorate with the other elements from the bundle!
I also used my Pom Pom Maker to decorate these flowers. You HAVE to see the rest of the wreath. I’m just trying to find a way to rig doing mantel decorations without a mantel. It’s quite the task.
You can see I also snuck in a little glitter card stock because I freaking love the stuff (in case you couldn’t tell).
I think the felt roses are beautiful on their own, as well. If you’re looking for more ways to work with fabric, check out my post on How to Make Simple Patterns with the Cricut Maker.

When I select Felt in my maker, it requests the fine point blade, and not the rotary blade. Any idea why?

There’s a link on the right that says EDIT TOOLS. Click on that, then choose the rotary blade 🙂
