My favorite type of party is where my guests get to choose their own toppings. There are a couple reasons for this. One, these parties are super easy to put together and two, they’re really fun for guests. My Hot Cereal Holiday Oatmeal Bar was no different and it was actually a breeze to put together and it’s perfect if you’re on a budget.
To make your own oatmeal bar, you’ll need Old-Fashioned Quaker Oats already prepared in individual bowls with half and half and brown sugar. You’ll then display some topping options that add flavor, like pumpkin spice (recipe below) and apple pie filling. You can display these in glass jars or cups. Then display accent topping options like walnuts, pecans, caramel melts, marshmallows, chocolate chips, and dried fruit. I used my free printable treat boxes and cupcake liners for these. I also melted some butterscotch chips into mini cupcake liners and placed a toothpick in the middle with a flag. That way people could melt them into the oatmeal. YUM!
My favorite combo was my pumpkin spice, walnut and caramel! I swear, I’m going to milk the pumpkin flavored everything until March!

Oatmeal! Yum – this is a fun breakfast bar idea. Now if only I could get the kiddos to get more of it in their mouths than in their hair…..
Erin says
Ha! That is a problem we have in our household, as well ๐

Erin, where do you find/did you find the pretty glass pedestal parfait cups? ๐
Erin says
Hi Elise! I got them at Walmart!! I’ve seen them at Target and possibly Crate and Barrel, too?? I can’t remember, but they shouldn’t be too hard to find and they’re only $2 each ๐
