I honestly can’t tell you who is vying for the Super Bowl Championship this year. However, I still like football season because it gives me a chance to eat chips and dip and of course, Funfetti Cupcakes with Skittle Sprinkles. Seriously…how fun are these cupcakes?
And because this Funfetti Cupcake recipe was created by me…it’s extremely easy and I’ve included free football printables. They’ll match whatever team is playing so you can have a party with opposing fans. That’s what makes parties fun, right? Nothing like a little innocent contention to liven up a party.
I love these cupcakes because you can change them up to match your favorite teams. I separated the skittles by color, then placed each color in a plastic baggy and pounded them with a meat mallet. They taste so good on a cupcake…love the mixture of sweet with a little tang! I used a buttercream frosting recipe from I Am Baker. It was delicious!
Funfetti Cupcake Recipe with Skittles Sprinkles
Ingredients
- 1 Box White Cake Mix
- 12 oz. Lemon-lime soda
- 1 egg white
- Sprinkles
- Food Coloring of choice
- Buttercream frosting
- Skittles Pieces
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 325 degrees Fahrenheit.
- In a mixing bowl, combine white cake mix, soda and egg white.
- Pour mix about 1/2 the way in the cupcake liners.
- Add sprinkles. I used about 1 tsp. for each cupcake.
- Mix in food coloring of choice until it is the desired color.
- Fill cupcake liners to 3/4 of the way full.
- Bake according to cake mix instructions.
- Let the cupcakes cool, then top with buttercream frosting.
- Top with Skittles Sprinkles and serve.

I also created some printables to wrap around full-sized candy bars and taped some of the “foam finger” printables to the backs of Twix Mini Candy bars. You can cut them out with scissors or with your Silhouette. Next, glue the finger to the back of the printable and wrap them around the candy bar, then glue.
For the smaller candy bars like Snickers and 3 Musketeers, I trimmed the printable by cutting it down one of the white lines, then gluing it back together.

The best part of this party was that I didn’t have to leave home for most of the ingredients. I ordered all the candy from Amazon.com and just sat at home waiting for it to arrive. It’s SO nice not having to take the kids to the store! Did you know Skittles is an official sponsor of the NFL and Superbowl? I can’t wait to see the commercials, and Skittles is here to Make Super Bowl 50 Even Sweeter. Make sure you visit Amazon to get up to 20% off your purchase of these candies and other Skittles, Starburst or Snickers candy (for a limited time).
What team will you be rooting for this year?

I’m not sure who I’m rooting for. I just show up for the food — especially sweet treats like these cupcakes! What a great idea to use the skittles as sprinkles! #client
