Download these FREE Printables to celebrate Christmas with 5 Days of Nativity Scriptures!
Anyone else’s kids hung up on Christmas presents this year? My daughter tells me every night what she wants for Christmas. I think that’s fun and all, but I want to teach my kids why our family celebrates Christmas. They know…but they don’t really KNOW. Does that even make sense?
I wrote out the quote “For Unto Us a Child is Born” because I used to be in choir and we would sing the Messiah every year. I still miss singing it, so drawing it out was the next best thing! I knew it would be a fun quote to put on this scripture game!
Basically, each day you take a scripture from the jar and read and discuss it as a family. They’re very short so you can do this right before bed each night. This would be great for kids of all ages and you can plan out your lesson for the night or read the scriptures and let the spirit take over…whatever works for you!
I also created a full page that you can stick on the refrigerator. No need to get all crafty if you don’t have to (the holidays are busy enough as it is, right??)

We have already started talking about the nativity, especially with my 6 year old. We took her to see the temple lights in Mesa, AZ and she absolutely loved it. I also have requests to watch Veggie Tales “The Little Drummer Boy” about everyday. Even though that song is my least favorite Christmas song EVER, I will oblige because it does teach them a great Christmas lesson.
What are some ways you teach young children about the nativity?
