Use this Brush Lettering Practice Sheet to get you started with your lettering skills! These were designed by the super talented Olivia from Random Olive!
When Olivia from Random Olive contacted me about sharing a FREE Printable Brush Lettering Practice Sheet on my blog, I was ecstatic! She is super talented and I wanted these practice sheets for myself! I have already gone through like 10 of these because they’re so fun and relaxing!
I use a Tombow Dual Brush pen for brush lettering and hand lettering, so I highly recommend getting one (or 100). Olivia uses actual paint brushes and paint, and I’m totally trying that next! I recommend getting this Pentel brush. I’ve worked with it a little and I really like that I don’t have to keep a glass of water around.
If you like this, Olivia also has a Brush Letter Practic Guide. This guide is AMAZING. The best thing you can do for your hand lettering or brush lettering skills is to practice, and this guide has enough material to turn you into a pro in 45 days! You’ll go over uppercase, lowercase, numbers and basic shapes. Plus, she gives you a schedule to stay on track!
She was generous enough to give my readers a practice page for FREE, and you can see me using it below. Note that this video is sped up about 4 times normal speed…so make sure you work slowly, especially at first.
Notice how I move the page up as I write. That’s not just for the video. It’s much easier to get smooth, clean lines if you move your paper, not your arm. You want to keep your page directly in front of you. I’m still working on my technique, but this practice sheet was seriously a HUGE help!
My daughter is still working through her hand lettering worksheets, but I think we’ll get started on these Lettering guides, too. She is allowed to use my Tombow Dual Brush pen with my permission and I really want her to learn how to write in cursive since they don’t teach it in schools anymore.
