Learning new software can be intimidating without the right resources. Use this video tutorial to learn how to upload Printables to Cricut Design Space!
I talked about my favorite things about the Cricut Explore Air, plus a review of what I like about it. Today, I’m sharing a quick tutorial on how to upload SVG Files to the design space because it was something that I struggled with at first. I think it’s because I was so used to another program because now it’s a no-brainer…but I figured some of you might need a little help getting your Printable Crush printable cut files ready to go on the Cricut!
First off, I design my printables in Adobe Illustrator. You can learn how to create your own in my Printable Design Course. I save the file either as an SVG or PNG. It just depends on the file type that will work best. I like using SVG if I can because it is a vector file and that means you can size and resize it without losing any image quality. Keep in mind that printable files can not be larger than 8″X5″. I’ll have a little trick to get around that, and you can see it HERE.
How to Upload SVG Printables:
- Open up Design Space in Chrome (you can also use Safari or FireFox).
- Create a new document, then go to the tabs on the left-hand side and choose UPLOAD.
- Click on the blue UPLOAD IMAGE button, then BROWSE on the next page and choose your SVG file.
- Click SAVE, then it will take you back to the Upload page.
- Click on the image you just uploaded, then press the green INSERT IMAGE on the lower right-hand corner of the page.
- After you insert the image, you’ll need to flatten it. To do this, open the layers tab (it might already be open), the press FLATTEN.
- Press the green GO button at the top of the page, then GO again, then PRINT PAGE.
After you print, just place it on a mat, load it into the Cricut Explore Air, then press the cut button. It will take a little while for it to read the page, then it will cut it out.
How to Upload PNG Printables:
- Open up Design Space in Chrome (you can also use Safari or FireFox).
- Create a new document, then go to the tabs on the left-hand side and choose UPLOAD.
- Click on the blue UPLOAD IMAGE button, then BROWSE on the next page and choose your SVG file.
- It will then ask you the image quality you would like. I usually pick the middle option because I don’t have many complex images.
- Click SAVE, then it will take you back to the Upload page.
- Click on the image you just uploaded, then press the green INSERT IMAGE on the lower right-hand corner of the page.
- After you insert the image, you may need to resize it. To do this, open the EDIT tab and change the size accordingly.
- Press the green GO button at the top of the page, then GO again, then PRINT PAGE.

Do you only use this with a desk top? I use my cricut with my tablet and phone app because we don’t have home internet. Does it work that way as well? And if so..how? I have only had mine about 2 months..love it..but want to be able to load other images and such.

This was done on a laptop. I just got a tablet for Christmas, so let me play around with it and hopefully I can get a post up soon!

Hey Erin
I’d like to know if you had a chance to figure this out using design space on a tablet of phone yet? I got my Cricut in September of 2017. I’m ready to branch out and do more with this intimidating machine!
