You may wonder what happens to all the cute printables when I’m done partying…and I’ll tell you. They go right in the trash (well, recycling bin because it’s paper). Not to be dramatic, but it’s sad throwing away something that I spent so much time on. When I got all the materials for my FUSE Kit, I knew exactly what I wanted to make…party supplies I didn’t have to throw away! Read on and I’ll show you how to make Reusable Cupcake Toppers! Also, it’s a great reason to eat CAKE over and over again 🙂
What makes these reusable is the material that I used. These are made out of plastic, so they are much more durable. If they get a little frosting on them, you can just wipe them off! I also like that I don’t have to worry about them bending when I transport them for a party. I created them using my handy FUSE tool from We Are Memory Keepers.
The FUSE is normally used for scrapbooking. It’s such a fun tool, that it makes me want to scrapbook! That’s a big deal…but it can also be used to make other crafts and party decor, which is more my speed. It heats up, then fuses plastic sheets together. It can make pockets in the photo sleeves so you can add embellishments or keepsakes to your pages. The kit below is usually $100, but HSN is selling them for a fraction of the price!
In the kit, you’ll receive:
- Fuse tool, with ruler, stand and two tips (1)
- 12×12 photo sleeves (15)
- 4×6 photo sleeves (20)
- 4×4 photo sleeves (20)
- 2×2 photo sleeves (20)
- 1.8×2.4 photo sleeves (20)
- heat resistant mat (20)
- cards (6)
- shaker cards (6)
- embellishments (52)
- envelopes (12)
- sequins (1)
For this tutorial, you’ll be using the FUSE tool, the cards, embellishments and sequins. You’ll also need some scissors or a paper trimmer, some paper straws and washi tape.
When using this tool:
- Don’t place it on surfaces that can get burned. Use the craft mat that comes with the kit.
- Don’t hold it in place for too long or it will go through the material. You don’t need to press too hard either.
- I like to fuse it on the back of the pages so you don’t see the fuse lines, unless I use an embellishment tips.
When you go to the HSN website, make sure you sign up for their email list so you can get an extra 15% off this kit. If you scrapbook, craft, party or like to create, you NEED this!
