Friends, I love me some photoshop and Adobe Illustrator. Obviously, since I have a whole course dedicated to learning in. Not everyone has it or needs it…and for this Cricut Project, you DO NOT NEED PHOTOSHOP! It’s so dang simple to create Cricut Pen Hand Lettering Projects, I’m kicking myself for not learning sooner.

When I was at a small conference a year ago, everyone was asking me to write their names on their name tags…and I thought it would be fun to make my own hand-lettered name tags, but in “bulk.” That’s what I did for my first project, then I had to create another one for Thank You cards, which you can see in the video tutorial for the Cricut Pen below.

Cricut Projects – Hand-Lettering Using Cricut Pens Supply List:
- Cricut Explore Air 2
- Cricut Design Space™ (download to your computer)
- Cricut Pens
- Thin Markers (Tombow Monotwins are my favorite)
- Paper
- Your Phone
- Sticker Paper (for name tags)
I LOVE LOVE LOVE how the Cricut does everything for me. It tells me when to insert a different color pen, then cuts it automatically. You can also do this with drawings, like the heart I have pictured. I didn’t even edit my pictures before I uploaded them to Cricut Design Space™, but if you think it will get you a sharper image (and it probably will), adjust the brightness and contrast right on your phone. So, when people ask me if the software is easy to use…I’m going to send them to this post…or just tell them YES. Yes, it is easy to use 🙂
I wanted to create a project that anyone can enjoy…and seriously this is it! Also, you don’t have to use the pens with this process…try cutting your hand lettering out with vinyl, or on paper for a completely customized craft!

Do you need an adapter to use the monotwin pens
Erin says
Hi Cheryl- I only use the monotwins for drawing out the concept on paper. I use Cricut pens in the machine.

I am wanting to get a Cricut Explore Air 2 JoAnns has the Mint stand alone for 199.99 and the Rose Bundle for 219.99. Is the bundle better of the two? Thank You. My husband wants to go get it ASAP not sure if the prices may be better after Christmas or not. Your information is amazing.
Thank You,
Joanne

Hi Joanne- I think it just depends on what color you like, and what products you think you’ll use the most. Base it on what you like to craft 🙂 Thanks for stopping by!
