I teach the 4-year-olds at church on Sundays, and I’m going to need A LOT of coloring pages. And I mean A LOT! I create my own, and they can be time-consuming because I have to hand draw it, trace it with a black marker, then transfer it to Illustrator. Many times, I still have to fix some things and smooth some lines too. Using the graphics I got from the Christmas Design Bundle from FontBundles.net, it took me about 10 minutes to Create Christmas Coloring Pages in Photoshop! Read on to find out how you can do it too!
This Christmas bundle includes over 900 elements like fonts, clip art, Christmas mockups, invitations, overlays and more! I used the White Christmas Set for the graphics and the Stylistics font. If you purchase those by themselves, it costs more than the bundle, so I can’t even describe how good of a deal it is! For a font addict like myself, it’s worth it for the fonts alone.
Please note: This bundle is only available for 2 weeks, so if you want to get in on this good deal DO IT NOW!
You will also need Photoshop to create these pages. I’m sure other programs will work, but this is the easiest one I’ve come across. I usually do everything in Illustrator, but Photoshop worked GREAT to create Christmas Coloring Pages.
How to CREATE CHRISTMAS COLORING PAGES:
- You’re going to create one page at a time. Open up Photoshop, then create a file that is 8.5″ by 11″ at 300 DPI.
- Next, open up a file folder with the White Christmas graphics from the Christmas Bundle. Pick the image you want to be the primary focus of the graphic. For instance, I chose the jar for one and the bird for another.
- Drag that graphic to your blank page in Photoshop. You can also add them to your file by clicking FILE>>PLACE EMBEDDED.
- Resize the image, so it fits on the page.
- Open the Layers Panel (seen below) and double-click on that layer. Don’t click on the text because that will just open up an edit text screen.
- This will open up the Effects window. Find Stroke, and add a black stroke and change the size of it. I made mine 29px for the larger images and 18 for the smaller ones. Make sure the position is on the outside.
- Repeat for all your other graphics. Drag, resize, then add the stroke.
- To add text, click the Text tool (looks like a T) on the left-hand menu bar. Start typing, select it all and choose your font (I used Stylistics). Change the size and the spacing to get the look you want. NOTE: for the stylistics font, it was a little farther apart than I wanted, so I changed the spacing to -25. You can change it as well in the Characters Panel with the item that looks like a VA with arrows underneath.
- Make sure the font color is white, then change the stroke like you did with the other graphics.
- Feel free to move everything around until you like it, go to FILE, save it as a Photoshop file. Go back to FILE and click SAVE AS and save it as a JPEG.
- If you want to make a coloring book, open Adobe Reader, click FILE>>CREATE and then choose the files you want to go in your coloring book. Press create, then save it!
I ended up copying a bunch of these at church, and the kids loved them! My son also colored both of them and took them to his teacher at school. These would be great to customize for your church projects, classrooms at school, or just for fun for your kids.
Another idea I had was to make them 5X7″ and send them out as Christmas cards! Wouldn’t it be so fun to get a card and some coloring pencils in the mail? I tend to give presents that I want to get, so OF COURSE, I think that’s a fabulous idea 🙂
