This is one of my favorite parties to date…and it could be because I’m a tiny bit morbid to begin with. I like ghost stories (don’t roll your eyes, husband) and ghost hunts and I think movies about witches and vampires are pretty awesome. I’m also kind of a chicken, though…so this party was pretty perfect for me. It’s gooey and gory, yet cute and yummy. I couldn’t have pulled it off without my mom…who helped me through more than one baking mistakes.
Decor
As always, I try to keep things within a budget. Target had AMAZING decor this year! I bought the net fabric from the background there…$4 each! I also bought the skull and witch hat there and all the gooey things in jars (spiders, mice and eyeballs). I also bought a bat, but didn’t use it, but it was worth the money scaring the pants off my kids all weekend (I know, I’m a mean mom). I got the cute chevron tray from Hobby Lobby and the little trifle dishes from Walmart (10 for $6…actually it was $7 because I really didn’t want to go to Walmart so I paid shipping).
The rest of my decor was purchased long ago and painted black for the occasion.
Of course, I created the printables. I LOVE this set. I know I say that all the time…but this set is just so much fun! You can find it in my ETSY SHOP. It comes with invitations, welcome sign, cupcake toppers, wrappers and more!
Food
The food was super simple this time…cake from a box and icing from a jar. I did spring for the Hershey chocolate box mix and icing and it was very tastey! Plus, it looks great! I also made frog eyed salad that my daughter called “booger marshmallows.” It was a pretty fitting name because after I died it neon green, it looked a lot like boogers. My daughter wasn’t brave enough to try it, but my son went crazy for it (ugh, BOYS!!) Check out the recipe! My favorite thing about the food was definitely the caramel apples. I think I love caramel apples more than anything in this world. We made these from scratch…recipe coming soon!
My favorite things:
The cupcake toppers. I like that you can use the circle cutter for them, or you can change it up with the bats, frog or banners. Super fun touch!
The witch finger nails. I couldn’t get a great picture of my daughter, but mostly because she was really excited and wouldn’t stop moving. These are really fun!
Cauldron treat bags…they’re adorable!
The labeled jars…the human tongues were gummy tongues from target and they looked disgusting…which was perfect.
The spiderweb stamped spoons.
Caramel apples…because they’re delicious and I labeled them as poison apples 🙂
My eyeball treat bags.
The Witch Party Hats…super cute and easy to make. Check out my tutorial!
