When we moved out of our Arizona home, there were three things that I miss the most….my pretty light fixtures, my office, and….WAIT FOR IT….my pantry. I know, kitchen pantries aren’t the most exciting things in the world, but that pantry was amazing. I never took pictures because I never created any Modern Cricut Pantry Labels, and that’s something I’ll probably always regret.
Fast forward to today and I have a teeny tiny pantry with generic wire shelves. When we moved in, it had THREE SHELVES, guys. I mean, yeah…we’re in a rental, but WHO CAN FIT ALL THEIR FOOD ON THREE SHELVES? Homebuilders, these shelves cost like $5. You can do better.
By the way, you may have noticed that I also got my Craft Room organized with the Cricut Maker…you’ll find I love black and white decor with modern design! And obviously, I love crafting with my Cricut.
We are in a rental at the moment, so we don’t want to invest too much into our rental, we also know we may be here for a couple of years. So, we decided to make our small pantry much more functional for the time we’re here. That involved adding a couple more shelves to the closet, placing everything in designated boxes, and creating pantry labels so the kids can help keep things organized.

Because our space is so much smaller, I know how to make the most of it, and I’m giving you my best tips for keeping an organized pantry!
Create Compartments
I always make fun of my husband because he has boxes for everything. But, I shouldn’t laugh…because it totally works. I grabbed these boxes at IKEA for $2 to $5 each. I love that they’re white and modern looking, plus they have those handles that make it easy to grab these out of the pantry.
Label Everything with Modern Cricut Pantry Labels
This isn’t really for me…it’s for EVERYONE ELSE IN THIS FAMILY. The kids now know that the sweet snacks box is ONLY for sweet snacks. Don’t you dare put fruit snacks in the trail mix box, kids. I have one child that can’t read, so he’s excused, but the other kids thankfully didn’t require any training for keeping this pantry tidy.
But the part that I LOVE about these labels? It’s so dang stylish! I wanted labels that were super easy to place on everything – I like the way it looks without the inner parts of the A’s O’s R’s, etc…so I didn’t even have to use transfer tape. They’re modern, fun, and maintenance FREE.
The best part is that you can edit these yourself in Cricut Design Space if you need different labels! Want a little more direction with Design Space? Make sure you sign up for my mailing list and get the free e-book!
Refillable Spices
Spices were always my biggest downfall with keeping a tidy kitchen. This is the best solution I’ve had – I keep my large spice containers in a safe spot in the basement, and refill these smaller jars as needed. The smaller jars are on a spice rack that makes it easy to grab them off the shelf. I labeled all of them with cardstock, but printable vinyl would work great if you have an inkjet (I use a laser printer). This is a super fun print and cut project!
Add More Storage with Levels
You can get more dividers at places like the Container Store, Home Depot, or Lowe’s to add even more functionality to your space. I used these for my spices and our snack boxes. It’s great for smaller items.
Add Temporary Storage outside the Pantry
The pantry isn’t the only thing that’s small in our new kitchen. The whole kitchen is about half the size of my last one! I’m lucky I have a basement where I keep some of the less used items on a storage rack…but I still needed to create more storage.
I created this fluid painting about a year ago (and you can grab the FREE Geode Printable for yourself) and placed some storage boxes and shelves from IKEA (now that we live by one, I’m completely ADDICTED) on the wall. I’m planning on adding labels to the boxes, but I haven’t quite decided what I need there, yet. The great thing about vinyl is I can always change it out once I DO decide!
Get Creative with your Space
Another option is adding some storage to your pantry door. I JUST bought a door storage hanger for our last house (before we knew we were going to move), and it’s too tall for this one. I didn’t want to buy another one. I’m now spoiled with 8 foot doors and it’s one thing I won’t compromise on with our next house. SO…I use that space to hang one of my SnapeZo frames and switch out my Meal Planner every week!
I also find that hanging artwork makes me want to be in a space more often, so I have this cute “Eat, sleep, repeat” hand lettered artwork on our counter. Is it functional? In the cooking sense, no…but it makes me happy, so I’m keepin’ it!
