I went to a blogging conference 2 weeks after I had Beau…I know, I was CRAZY. But it was close to my house, so I decided I really needed to go. I was nervous because I just did not look like myself. Besides not being able to fit into my old clothes, I was EXHAUSTED. Finding beauty after having a baby was a struggle for me, but I knew if I wanted to make a good impression at my first conference, I had to make an effort!
So, Download this FREE Printable as a daily reminder that you are beautiful, then read more on how I dressed for my blog conference!
Step One: Choose Flattering Outfits
I wouldn’t normally buy clothes just for a conference, because I like my wardrobe, but I am at the awkward stage where pregnancy clothes don’t fit, but neither do my pre-pregnancy clothes. My mom took pity on me and got me a few pieces that I ended up loving!
I have two words for you…Stretchy Pants. My first rule in buying clothes is they have to be comfortable. I love stylish pieces, but if it’s not comfortable I will NEVER EVER wear it. I chose this outfit because I already had the sweater (my favorite sweater EVER) and nothing is more comfortable than leggings and a t-shirt. I got the t-shirt a little big so it was longer. While I wouldn’t say that this outfit is “slimming,” I think it accentuates things like my fun red hair and my blue eyes. Don’t worry about looking thin, just find pieces that make people see the real you!
This is my favorite outfit. It’s a pretty blush pink and the belt is at my natural waist, which is always really flattering. I also love the flower leggings. They make this outfit fun and modern and they match perfect with the girly top! I’m not usually a girly pink kind of girl, but I this made me feel pretty and feminine. Bottom line, if it makes you feel pretty…WEAR IT!
I chose this outfit for the same reason as the first…it’s comfortable and I love the colors. I’m always drawn more toward blues and greens and these jeans are my favorite pair. Plus, I couldn’t WAIT to wear these boots after my pregnant, swolen feet went back to normal. A little disclaimer on the jeans…they are pre-pregnancy jeans and fit me everywhere but the waist. I had to tie a hair tie around the button, but no one could tell. As Tim Gunn would say…MAKE IT WORK!
Step Two: Natural Makeup
For makeup, I always tend to go natural and stick to the basics. I was tired and no amount of makeup can fix that…but I was also SO happy. I was head over heels in love with my little guy! People saw that through the tired, dark circles and even though I didn’t look like myself, I got a lot of compliments on how good I looked after baby.
Basically, I chose looks that were easy, comfortable and complimented the features I like about myself. I wish I had heard about Colgate® Optic White® Express White before this conference. It whitens teeth in three days*, just from brushing your teeth! It has two times more of the professionally recommended whitening ingredient**, so it works faster than most whitening toothpastes. Check out THIS LIST to see if a demo will be in your local Walmart on February 28, 2015. Ambassadors will be roaming the aisles handing out $1 coupons for Colgate® Optic White® Express White toothpaste, so you can try it for less!
Step Three: Have a Blast!
I ended up having so much fun! I will have to write a separate post just about my conference, but even though I was pumping and/or breastfeeding for the majority of the conference, I learned so much and made some great friends (and met some online friends, too!)
How do you dress for a conference? What are your top wardrobe pieces and what’s your beauty regime?
