I have a confession to make. I made really good grades in college…that’s not the confession part. I’m proud of that. The confession is that I was horrible at going to class. I went to about 3 sessions of my human anatomy class and I still got an A. The reason? I just don’t learn by sitting and listening. I learn by doing. The best way I could facilitate learning was by heading to the anatomy lab…no matter how unpleasant that was. Learning is something I’m very passionate about and that’s why I create things like this Christmas Hand Lettering Practice Guide.
As much as I love my life, I know I will never be content with the knowledge or skills that I have. I believe we should always be growing and the work that we do should be gratifying. Not only that, we should share that growth with those around us! Hand Lettering is a skill that I’ve really been working on this year and there’s a reason why it’s so popular right now. It’s soothing, teaches fine motor skills (which is why I have hand lettering worksheets for kids), helps with focus, and at the end, you have something really beautiful that you can share. It’s something I truly love to teach!
The biggest example I have of a teacher is my Savior. He taught with love and compassion, and he catered each lesson to his pupil. I love the story of Mary and Martha. Martha is cleaning like a crazy woman because the Savior of the world is coming to her house. She tells him to ask Mary to help her and he says, “Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things: But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her.” (Luke 10:41-42) I would be the Martha. Bet your buns I’d be cleaning my baseboards if Jesus was coming to my house. But I love how he was kind, yet to the point about what she needed to learn that day.
I get so caught up in the Christmas season bustle…I know many of you do too. Take some time to reflect on what’s important. #LighttheWorld with your talents and your kindness this year. Sit down with this practice sheet and relax, then hang it up for a beautiful display!

I LOVE the link to #LightTheWorld. Glad to know I have been following a Sister in Christ. Your spirit shines, even before I knew we were members of the same church.
